It is our great honor and pleasure to introduce the Vice Chancellor (EX) of CUET Professor Doctor Engineer Mohammad Jahangir Alam. He is the first graduate of CUET to become the fourth Vice Chancellor of CUET in the year 2012. VC Jahangir as a CUETIAN, we are proud of you. We wish your great success in your carrier. We are very happy to have you today with us.
Prof. Dr. Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam was born in Chandanaish, Chittagong. His father was a freedom fighter in the liberation war in 1971. Dr. Jahangir graduated from the Chittagong Engineering College and joined as lecturer in the same institution in 1988. He completed his Master’s in Structural Engineering in 1991 and PhD in Civil Engineering in 1994 from ANNA University, Madras, India.
He conducted research in many countries including as Post Graduate Studies on Earthquake Engineering & Engineering Seismology in IZIIS, Macedonia. He has 31 years of teaching, professional and administrative experiences. He has more than 50 publications in national and international journals and conferences.
Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam has established Earthquake Engineering Research Centre (EERC) at CUET and he is the founder life member of Bangladesh Earthquake Society. He is a renowned Earthquake specialist and Researcher. He wrote and published many books and articles on Earthquake to grow public awareness and research purposes.
Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam received several significant awards including Environmental Award 2013 for his glorious contribution. UNESCO/ ACADEMIC Development Project (UADP) awarded him for his outstanding contribution in the field of Science & Education 2013.
He received the award International Engineer of the Year 2012 from The International Biographical Center of Cambridge. His biographical record is included in the books of “WHOs WHO in the World-2001, USA” and “WHOs WHO in Asia-2006”. Dr. Alam’s biographical record is also included in the book of “Outstanding People in the 21 st Century, Ist Edition, Cambridge, England”.
Prof. Dr. Md. Jahangir Alam is a member of Institution of Engineers Bangladesh and is active member of more than 12 professional societies around the globe including American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), New York Academic of Sciences, Asian Center for Engineering Computations and Software (ACECOMS) and Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.
